What makes a carpet "green"
We look at three layers, not just the fiber. Face fiber: wool is renewable, naturally flame resistant, and holds its texture. Adhesive: conventional carpet binds yarn to backing with styrene butadiene (SB) latex; the carpet we feature uses natural rubber instead. Treatments: many wool carpets are still treated with stain repellents and mothproofing. Ours are untreated.

Living with wool carpet
Untreated wool is not stain proof. Blot spills quickly and expect natural color variation between dye-free batches. Wool is a good fit for bedrooms and stairs, and less ideal for a basement playroom where a cork floor with a rug may serve you better.
Pad and installation

Common questions
Is wool carpet safe for people with chemical sensitivities?
Untreated wool with a natural rubber adhesive avoids most of the compounds found in synthetic carpet, but individual reactions vary. Order a sample and live with it for a few days before committing.
Do moths damage untreated wool carpet?
Carpet moths can affect wool in undisturbed, dark areas. Regular vacuuming, including under furniture, is the main prevention.
