The floor for people who want waterproof without vinyl
Most waterproof planks get their water resistance from PVC. WISE gets it from a rigid core made of cork, which is why it is the product we suggest first to clients in Takoma Park, Chevy Chase and Northwest DC who have ruled out vinyl. Amorim recommends it for kitchens, laundry rooms, mudrooms and bathrooms with showers.
Cork on top, cork underneath
The integrated cork underlay gives WISE the sound damping and warmth cork is known for. It is a strong option for condos in Arlington, Bethesda and downtown Silver Spring with acoustic requirements, and for slab-on-grade rooms that feel cold in winter. Finish and durability
The HRT finish is a PVC-free protective layer designed for heavy residential traffic and commercial use, backed by a limited lifetime residential warranty and a 10-year commercial warranty. Like any cork floor, it will dent under sharp point loads, so we specify felt pads for furniture legs.
Compared with traditional cork
Cork Essence has a thicker cork build on an HDF core and a softer feel, but it is not meant for wet rooms. WISE trades a little cushion for water resistance. Browse all cork flooring or read how we install cork.
Common questions
Is Wicanders WISE really waterproof?
Amorim designs WISE for wet areas including bathrooms with showers. The core does not swell like HDF. As with any click floor, the perimeter is sealed in bathrooms and standing water should be dried.
Can WISE go in a basement?
Yes, as a floating floor over a slab that passes moisture testing, with a vapor barrier where the installation guide requires it.
