The classic, glued-down format
Before click panels, Marmoleum meant sheet: linoleum calendered onto a jute backing, delivered in rolls about 79 inches wide and glued to the subfloor. Sheet gives the fewest seams of any Marmoleum format, and the seams it has can be heat welded. That makes it the right choice for large kitchens, playrooms and commercial spaces where a continuous surface is easier to clean.
What it is made of
Forbo reports that Marmoleum is made from 97% natural raw materials, 72% rapidly renewable and 43% recycled content, with no phthalates, plasticizers or mineral oil. The ingredients are linseed oil, rosin, wood flour, limestone and pigments on jute. It contains no PVC. The Topshield pro finish is applied at the factory, so the floor needs only a neutral pH clean after installation.
Installation and subfloors
At 2.5 mm, sheet linoleum telegraphs every flaw beneath it. We install over a smooth underlayment or a patched and leveled slab, and concrete must pass moisture testing against Forbo's limits first. That is common in the slab-on-grade ramblers of Silver Spring and Annandale. Expect the drying room film, a yellowish cast from the linseed oil, to fade with light after installation.

Common questions
Sheet Marmoleum or Cinch Loc Seal click panels?
Sheet gives a nearly seamless floor and a thinner profile but must be glued by an installer over a well-prepared subfloor. Click panels float over most existing floors and have a waterproof core, at the cost of more visible seams.
